How the world has changed. We had no idea how free we were back in the 70’s and 80’s. Thanks for sharing this story. The photos and words remind me of how different it was and how much mental space we had to just be.

I preordered and I’m reeeeady! When I was in middle school trains rumbled slowly along the tracks behind the houses across the street from my grandmother’s house. I’d jump on to the ladder on the side and ride as far along as I dared before jumping off and running away before it picked up too much speed or the conductor came along. Not quite the same but a middle schooler’s version!
