This reminds me of why I love the book! I pick up more and more between the lines and imagine beyond! Those thumbnails remind me of Calvin's "Spaceman Spiff" adventures in Calvin and Hobbes...the movement and gesture!!
That point - about the dataset - is so enlightening. It is sort of like a group of people, all of similar characteristics, coming up with a product. If there aren't some diverging perspectives, the final work would be insipid. And it wouldn't expand humanity's horizons. I'm all for diversity and spinning ideas out of nowhere. Then, let the machines mine the newness for dataset input.
Thank you, James. I love the examples with dinosaurs, of course -- we need to imagine them, yet they were once quite real. And Dinotopia lives on, even though the fandom isn't what it used to be.
Just bought the book! I like your approach to ai, see what it can do and cant! Ai will never be able to replace the soul of human made artwork imo, but for technical critique its nice to have an analysis of my thumbnails since I am no longer in art school & dont have a professor to point out I need to make the foreground warmer or something like that.
Have the book. Watched the video (and many more) Love your work and fabulous imagination!!!!! 😊

I like those Calvin and Hobbes Sunday strips, too. Looking forward to the exhibit this summer at the Fenimore House in Cooperstown.
I didn't know about that...it sounds so cool!!
