I am amazed at how clearly and concisely you have stated these complex topics. That’s as impressive in its own way as the topics themselves!

Interesting post today. I'm just going to comment on a couple of points.

1. "Thinking takes place in the brain." One day my painting teacher had us do clay models of the human figure. It was the first time I had done something like that. The next day, when I went to practice figure drawing, my sketch of the figure in the same posture as the model I had made was MUCH better than my sketch of any of the other poses. The great artists often got up close and personal with their subjects. Felt them, held them, posed them, examined them from multiple points of view. It is strange to me but I know painters who think this is somehow cheating.

3. "mind and body are separate" Really ? ? ? Are there still people who think that the mind and body are separate? BTW, don't ever refer to "the mind-body connection." That implies that they ARE separate and there is some kind of conduit between them. Nope.

6. "Time is linear and absolute." OK, there are probably people who agree with most of your points, but not this one. It is really embedded in our thinking. I have personally experienced time out of sync so I know that it isn't linear. (And, no, I'm not crazy.) As you noted, this is an awareness shared by many cultures over time and space.

Worth considering how concepts like these affect our art making.
