Most artists are familiar with the concept of negative shapes, meaning the spaces between.

Negative painting is a way of focusing on those spaces to bring out positive forms.

You can experiment with rendering the negative space and leaving the white shapes flat. That was the idea I brought to the little watercolor study of daisies. Below is a brand new video, which you as a Substack subscriber get to see before it shows up on YouTube.
