I have bought a nice wide Patagonia front pack with two pockets for small water bottles that I can put a sketch book, palette and brushes inside. The plywood idea is great improvement to mine. The close line could be replaced by neck strap hitched on both outer corners. Size of “watercolor” paper or blocks could be Strathmore postcard stock or I use backs of used 140 or 300 lb good watercolor paper 5x7. This is a great way of exploring the ideas found plain air. My thumbnails seem to always be stronger gesturally than my final painting done back in the studio. Thank you so much for sharing. I am very grateful since travel with supplies can be “if-ie”.

I work small for plein air and this would be a great fit for me!
